Microdermabrasion

Give Yourself Lovely, Healthy Skin

Minimize the appearance of surface lines with the microdermabrasion services from Harmonia Spa. This treatment is one of the gentlest, fastest, non-invasive anti-aging treatments available. It helps smooth any rough or dry skin, clears mild acne, and fades hyperpigmentation from sun damage. Microdermabrasion stimulates blood flow, which increases the nutrition delivered to skin cells. Having this treatment will improve your skin's elasticity, texture, and leave it feeling replenished with a healthy glow.

Who Is It for?

The best results are for treating fine lines, skin discoloration, and people with dull, dry, skin and mild acne. Our custom microdermabrasion facial improves your skin texture and tone. It boosts the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, which reduces brown spots and prevents the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Before Microdermabrasion

A series of 6 to 8 treatments are usually recommended for optimum results, with 2 to 3 weeks in between for skin to recover. Seven days before treatment, discontinue using all alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin-A, Renova, Differin, and Tazorac), and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide. Avoid the following procedures for a minimum of 7 days before microdermabrasion:

• Waxing
• Tweezing
• Electrolysis
• Chemical Peels
• Laser Treatments of Any Kind
Injections (Collagen and BOTOX)
Facials

This treatment is not recommended if you have skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, active sunburns, open sores, psoriasis, or widespread acne.

What to Expect After Microdermabrasion Treatment

After the first microdermabrasion treatment, the complexion will have a pink or red glow, which typically fades after a day. Redness may last slightly longer. You may experience itchiness and a mild sunburn-like sensation which can last up to two days after. You may also experience flaking, peeling, and dryness of the skin - usually on the 3rd or 4th days after the treatment, this is normal.

You must protect your skin every day with a full spectrum sunscreen that protects both UVA and UVB with an SPF of 30 or higher. For the first 24 to 48 hours, use a mild cleanser and keep your skin well-hydrated. Drink plenty of water and apply a good daily and nightly moisturizer. Do not use glycolic, alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or topical acne medications for 3 days following treatment. Refrain from waxing, electrolysis, or other hair removal methods for 30 days. Avoid sun beds for at least one week.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in prolonged healing, or other complications post microdermabrasion treatment.
